No, foreign interns are prohibited to receive monetary compensation under the Indonesian law. Some companies might offer perks like daily bike rental or corporate free meals, but it really varies. Dive in to the negotiation to discover the opportunities!

How long does an average internship in Bali last?
Internships vary, but many span between 3 to 6 months. If you are only available for a shorter amount of time, this will decrease the chances of your acceptance by companies, with our support, we can work something out together. Time enough to learn, explore, and soak up the sun!

Can internships in Bali lead to a full-time job?
Most don't. Some internships might turn into job offers, depending on the company growth, and your stellar performance. There are many other options for jobs in Southeast Asia, especially after you finish your degree (let us know). Aim high!

It's possible, depending on your visa conditions and the company's willingness to keep the good times rolling. Or, do another one with us after graduation !

Do I need a visa to intern in Bali?
Yep, you'll need the right visa, either a Training Visa or Internship Visa, depending on your internship's duration and nature. Arriving in Bali with a Visa on Arrival, with the intention of becoming an intern in Bali, is illegal. Let's not put yourself or your host company/organisation at risk like that 🫠

Do I need a work permit?
Internships usually don't a work permit, it requires the specific Internship Visa suited to your program and company's business activities. Be specific with you agent and send your basic inquiries here.

Is interning in Bali safe?
Absolutely, Bali is generally considered a safe destination, provided you don't abuse your freedom. Stay savvy about local customs, respect others and travel advice. You'll be fine.

Do I need an international health travel insurance?
For sure, securing solid international health insurance that covers care in Bali is a must-do.

What's the cost of living like in Bali?
Living costs can vary, but Bali is generally more wallet-friendly than many Western countries. Your Internship Visa is discounted once you become a Greenternships intern. Do I need to speak English or Indonesian to intern in Bali?
English is the lingua franca of all the companies we place our interns in. Indonesian is often used in the workplace, a splash of the local language paired with culturally-approporiate usage can enrich your daily interactions and cultural journey...immensely! Fluency in a third language is always handy.

What's public transport like in Bali?
Public transport is limited, so scooters and taxis are the go-to. Get ready to navigate the streets like a local! Speak to Mitch after choosing your best friend for the road (electric vehicles available).

What are the work hours like as an intern?
Typical days start around 9:00 and wrap up at 17:00, with plenty of time to catch those beach sunsets after. 🌴

How do I prepare for cultural differences?
Your smile and patience, does wonders! Dive into Indonesian culture and customs before you go, and embrace the experience with an open and respectful mindset. Learn your magic words, basic numbers and simple greetings before you get on the flight to ensure a friendly welcome.

What's the dress code at the office?
It depends on the company; some rock a casual vibe, while others might expect a touch more formality. Stay classy; save the strappy tops, Bintang singlets, tight-fit bottoms and flip flops for the beach 🏖️

Along with the essentials (sunscreen, insect repellent, bathers), consider the tropical climate and cultural-appropriate clothing (thin cardigan, sarong, chemise) to ensure client-readiness. Pack smart, live large; linen is your best friend!
